Think about the last time you were on the internet.  It is overwhelmingly likely that as you navigated the web, your search for the information you were looking for was interrupted by ads.

Some of those ads were probably those super annoying popup ads, while others were simply roadblocks in your way.  Bits of unwanted noise that were placed between you and the information you were looking for.

That’s the current state of online advertising.

Contrast that with OOH ads.

Billboards don’t jump out at you and force you to stop to read them.  Instead, they’re sprinkled along paths you travel and the really good ones catch your eye and get some of your attention.  In other words, they’re much less intrusive.

Even better, it is increasingly true that OOH ads can be linked with a variety of online content such that the content in question is actively sought after by would-be customers.  When that happens, the subsequent ads and other information your company is displaying isn’t seen as intrusive, it becomes the very information they’re seeking, and since that’s the case, it is welcomed.

A recent press release issued by the Out of Home Advertising Association of America (OAAA) brings even more good news to add to the above.

First, OOH spending has been increasing lately, surging by 11% in 2022, to a new all time high of $1.94 billion, with Apple, McDonalds, Samsung, Amazon and Google taking the top five OOH spending slots.

Second, and even more exciting, “78% of consumers have engaged with an OOH ad in the past 60 days.”

In other words, the vast majority of consumers responded to at least one of the OOH ads they saw and went online seeking more information.

That’s huge.  That’s why, if you’re not currently planning your next OOH advertising campaign, now is the time to begin!
