McDonald’s is hoping their billboard campaign will inspire people to come together and stop the violence at Euro 2016 in France. Apparently, the fan violence between countries has been pretty brutal. The billboard campaign features several different fans holding scarves from two different countries that have been sewn together to form the name of a new, imaginary country.
The above image combines France’s scarf with Switzerland, to make the name “Fraland.” A spokesman for the campaign says the hope in combining the names of the competing countries is to promote “tolerance, diversity and generosity” to unite fans, rather than divide them.
The tagline for the campaign is “Come as you are,” and the ads are the brainchild of BETC Paris. McDonald’s is the official restaurant of the event, organized by the Union of European Football Associations.
This is the 15th year for the event…it continues through July 10th.
