This is Conner Poe’s last week as President and CEO of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Georgia (OAAG). Poe has held the post for nearly a decade, taking the reigns back in September of 2007.
Poe is leaving the OAAG for a Resident Vice President of Government Affairs position with Norfolk Southern Railway.
During Poe’s tenure with the OAAG, several pro-active measures were passed, focusing on transit advertising, relocation of signs, and a major overhaul of highway vegetation program in 2011.
Poe says he thinks his biggest accomplishment is how the image of the industry has changed in Georgia. “Outdoor advertisers in our state are now seen as a community partner,” Poe says. “We answer the call when law enforcement, GDOT, and emergency management needs us. Our assists are a vital tool for these folks if and when a community emergency occurs,” he adds.
Poe says he’s always looking for ways to grow, and that desire is what led him to pursue the opportunity with the railway industry. He said he’s had many opportunities while working for the OAAG, but finally felt like the timing was right to make a move to a corporate setting. “I cherished my time with OAAG and the life long friends I will take from it. I would never have had the opportunity that I am moving into now without the support and backing of those in the Outdoor Advertising Industry,” Poe said.
Congratulations Conner on your new position and best of luck at Norfolk Southern!
