OOH Advertising Making a Comeback Over the Summer

Relaxing weekends at the lake, refreshing ice cream on a hot day, and dreams of being at the pool each day…summer is in the air and back on the road. The steady increase in June and July travel numbers and more facilities/stores opening is the rebound billboard advertising needed to jump back in the ring.  Therefore, here’s a couple updates about the good news on travel and how it is affecting billboard advertising.

Update 1: Travel has increased exponentially in recent months since Covid-19 peaked in March. Geopath have studied the following stats on the average total of miles driven day concluding the following results in June “Currently, on weekdays, people are travelling 94% of the distance traveled the week of March 9th. There was an increase of a tenth of a mile week over week”. Read more here. Although the numbers prove more cars are out on the road, we still caution to be safe when leaving your house.

Update 2: It inevitable that people will again go outside. With the reopening of many stores, billboards have been flourishing. Geopath also comments on this stating

“…the average distance traveled amongst Americans up at least 28% since the first week of April, according to Geopath and Intermx. With more consumers back out on the roads, OOH will rebound to “become more valuable than ever.” Now is the time for agencies and brands to get ahead of competitors, revisit their OOH strategies, and smartly phase them back into plans.” Read more here.
