The Netherlands was battling a record setting heat wave last month. McDonald’s responded with a billboard in Downtown Amsterdam offering free McFlurries. The catch? The temperature had to hit 101 degrees. The billboard drew a crowd as temperatures began to climb. The billboard was a glass case containing empty cups. It was activated by a heat sensor that unlocked the case just after 12:30 pm, when the temperature hit the record mark. Anyone lucky enough to snag a cup could take it to the closest McDonald’s and have it filled with the treat. This was only a one day thing, but the stunt garnered attention worldwide, as articles announcing it were published around the globe. We’re hot here in “Hotlanta” too, McDonald’s. Hint. Hint.
