Let’s face it, “manscaping” isn’t one of those things you expect to find on a billboard, but that’s exactly what manscaped.com did when they launched their bold and brilliant ad campaign in Penn Station and the PATH station at the World Trade Center where the ads would be seen by literally millions of people.
Nowhere is “manscaping” actually mentioned on the billboards but then, it doesn’t really need to be. One look at the URL and everyone knows what the topic of the ad is.
This is something that could have gone wrong in all sorts of different ways, but the company handled the design beautifully.
The key here lies in the synergy of these ads. Literally every element, from the bold color selection to the font choice to the posture of the models used is designed to exude confidence.
It worked.
Everywhere you look in selected stations, you’re greeted by smiling, confident, expertly posed models beside catchy slogans like “You just know, you know.”
The best part is, there’s absolutely nothing about this ad campaign that can’t be applied to any product, in any industry. This campaign succeeded (wildly, based on the ongoing conversations across multiple social media channels) because of its sheer boldness and audacity and its synergy.
We’ve never seen anything like it and we find ourselves looking forward to manscaped.com’s next ad campaign.
