It probably comes as no surprise to anyone in Atlanta that our great city made the list for the Top 10 Longest Commutes. Believe it or not, we came in at number 10. So according to the study, there are 9 other cities in the U.S. with even longer commutes. So maybe that fact will provide some comfort the next time you are sitting in traffic trying to get home after a long day at work. The data comes from research done by Visual Capitalist, a digital media brand that uses data, art, and storytelling to make complex issues more digestible for millions of investors worldwide.
But there is some benefit to that long commute time…businesses who advertise on the billboards along those commutes are able to get their goods and services in front of thousands of people and strike while the iron is hot. Commuters are out on the roads, most likely thinking about dinner options, gifts they need to buy, how they’d rather not have to cut the grass, and seeing a billboard for any of these or a host of other goods and services would put the solution to their problem right in front of them.
