Las Vegas is famous for a lot of things, but they’re recently added yet another item to the list. It’s now home to the world’s largest digital billboard! Called simply “The Sphere” it is all but guaranteed to become an iconic landmark as it’s one of the most distinctive looking buildings in the world. Even better, the entire spherical exterior is one gigantic LED screen, measuring a staggering 580,000 square feet, which makes a tremendous canvas upon which to advertise.
What makes advertising on The Sphere even more attractive is the fact that onlookers can’t seem to resist the temptation to post videos of it on TikTok, YouTube and other social media channels, meaning that anything advertised on The Sphere is bound to get shared far beyond Las Vegas itself. If you search for “The Sphere” on TikTok or YouTube, you’ll likely find videos that have been viewed tens, or even hundreds of thousands of time, and of course, whatever ad is being displayed when a video is taken will be transmitted to that many more eyeballs as well – that’s huge.
Unfortunately, as great as all of that sounds, there is one downside; one “catch,” and it’s a big one. It’s not cheap to get your ad displayed on the giant digital billboard. A one day campaign will cost you $450,000, while a weekend campaign will run somewhere in the neighborhood of $650,000.
The building’s owners stress that advertising here should be compared to advertising during the Superbowl, rather than to conventional billboard ad costs, and they stress that their design team handles the production of each client’s ad spot, so your production costs are included in the totals we mentioned earlier.
Even so, at that price, advertising on The Sphere is going to be out of reach for many, but it’s certainly an eye-catching, exciting option to aspire to!
