Federal authorities are thanking the media, including the Outdoor Advertising Association of Georgia, for their role in the capture of a wanted Georgia gang member who was considered armed and dangerous.  The FBI and the Safe Streets Gang Task Force say the publicity on the case provided by the media, including an Atlanta billboard, helped to get the word out about Antariouse “Phat” Caldwell. An anonymous tip lead police to a hotel in Jonesboro, where 25 year old Caldwell was taken into custody without incident.

The tipster said they recognized Caldwell from media reports showing his neck tattoo, which reads, “No Mercy.” The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the arrest, which happened on January 9th. Caldwell was indicted back in October on charges of Federal Racketeer and Influenced Corrupt Organizations Conspiracy Murder.  A total of 32 alleged members of the Gangster Disciples were on the indictment, which also includes a former DeKalb County police officer.

It is believed that Caldwell and other gang members are responsible for 10 murders and 12 attempted murders.
