It’s both fabulous and comfortable, is it not?  Well, as comfortable as one could reasonably expect a bus stop to be, of course.

This is one of IKEA’s latest OOH ads, and it’s brilliant.  On the side table, there’s a small placard that announces the stop as having been furnished by IKEA, but that’s it, and honestly, no other words are needed.  It’s a superb example of “show, don’t tell.”

It’s also a stellar example of thinking outside the billboard, and those are the two most important lessons this example can teach us.  Granted, most people do think of billboards when the subject of OOH advertising comes up, and there’s a good reason for that.  Billboards are ubiquitous, but they’re not the only game in town.

What we like best about this ad is that IKEA gets to show off some of its actual products while making the people who are waiting for the bus more comfortable.  It’s an act of kindness, brand ambassadorship and great advertising all rolled into one neat and tidy package.
