The Super Bowl is the National Football League championship game, played annually between the champions of the National and the American Football Conferences. Every year, millions of people across the United States stay tune to watch it. Some people watch it for the actual game, but others actually watch it just for the TV Advertisements.

 

But what about the best out of home Super Bowl ads? This year, the Super Bowl took place in Los Angeles, home of the RAMS. Because of this, there were many OOH ads placed in Los Angeles to get the LA crowd excited for their team to play. However, it is important to note that the NFL has held a trademark for Super Bowl, taking place since 1969. “Advertisers who are not official big game sponsors and use the term “Super Bowl” will receive cease-and-desist letters”. This allowed for companies to be even more creative when it came to their OOH advertisements. Let’s check out some of the best OOH Super Bowl ads that took place in Los Angeles this year:

1. United Airlines

United Airlines was extremely creative with their digital billboard inside the LAX airport. The digital sign delivered a subtle message in regards to the Super Bowl without calling it out specifically. Travelers do in fact “touchdown” when they land.

2. Tostitos 

Tostitos had to advertise themselves during Super Bowl season because clearly many people are going to need something to snack on during the big game. Tostitos digital ad plays with a significant color pop that would be hard to miss. Their slick play on words also goes hand and hand with the big game this season.

3. Patron

Patron created a wonderful image to bring attention to their brand. The image shows multiple color variations of their tequila bottles and even a glass with what appears to be a mixed drink. Underneath the image it says “Our Championship Team”. Once again making subtle comments towards the big game.
