Mississippi State used digital billboards this weekend to thank a former star player and wish him well as he kicked off his professional career. The school wanted former quarterback Dak Prescott to know that they were behind him as he prepared for his first game in the NFL as the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. The team took on the New York Giants yesterday, but unfortunately, the digital billboards weren’t enough for the Cowboys to pull out a win, as the Giants squeaked by them with a final score of 20-19.
Prescott quarterbacked for the Bulldogs from 2013 to 2015…during that time, he set multiple records and led the Bulldogs to victory in both the Auto Zone Liberty Bowl in 2013 and the Belk Bowl in 2015. He also took the school to a number one ranking for the first time in school history.
Prescott holds 38 records at Mississippi State, and was the highest drafted quarterback for the NFL in school history. He was drafted in the fourth round, 135th pick. Prescott thanked his alma mater in a letter written to Sports Illustrated magazine earlier this year, and the school answered then and now with a message of “wherever you go, we are with you.”
